The Blue Jackal

THE BLUE JACKAL

Long ago, there lived a jackal in a dense forest. One day, he went to a nearby village in search of food. The street dogs saw him and chased him. The jackal got frightened. He ran harder and entered a house. The house belonged to a dyer. There was a drum full of blue dye kept in the balcony of the house. The jackal didn't notice the drum and fell into it. After some time, the jackal came out of the drum. He was now completely coloured with blue dye.

The jackal ran back to the jungle. When the other animals of the forest saw him, they feared and ran here and there. They had never seen a blue animal ever before in their life.

The jackal could not understand why the animals were behaving strangely. He went to a river and looked his reflection. Then he understood everything. Now the jackal thought of a plan. He said to the animals, "Brothers, don't be afraid. I am the messenger of God. I have been sent by God. He wants me to be your king and look after you."

The animals also felt very happy on getting a ruler. They gave many presents and foods to the king. Many days passed by. The blue jackal was spending a life of comforts.

One day, the blue jackal was holding a court. All the animals of the forest were present there. Not much far from the spot, a group of jackals were partying because they had got a big hunt. In their jolly mood, they began to howl loudly. On hearing the howling, the blue jackal could not resist himself. He also ran up to a rock and started howling.

The animals present there were taken aback at this action of their king. Jumbo the elephant shouted, "He is not a king sent by God. He is just a jackal. Therefore, he is howling."

Minkoo the monkey said, "Oh, so he was just fooling us." Sheru the lion roared, "How dare he occupy my throne!"

Pintoo the wolf shouted, "Let us kill this fraud at once!" All the animals attacked the blue jackal and killed him.

Moral: Alie does not live for long.
